I thought Geneva was the least likeable of the places I visited in Switzerland. A place where they charge you for tomato sauce in McDonalds. The only thing that is free is the air and the view across to Mont Blanc.
I have just finished the Denz book. I knew it would make me depressed, but the saddest thing is that Bill was reckless with his life. The book suggests that there was some master plan behind all this, but a lot of people have enjoyed success as professional mountaineers without giving fate such good odds. But then again, in the mountain environment all it takes is one error of judgment and it's the chop.

Dear Gollum. Of course Bill was recklass with his life, especially in the early days. He matured, and got safer. But why be depressed? He died the way he thought he would. It came as no surprise to his Mother. Rather than being depressed, I was greatly inspired to read the full story.
